Congratulations to Geography Honors Students Stella Jones, David Urbina, and Kristen Hiatt who have all received Mary Gates Research Scholarships to support their senior research projects. Stella is examining how social boundaries and privilege are negotiated in shared public spaces such as sidewalks and alleys, David is investigating questions of food provisioning and food security in Seattle's homeless encampments, and Kristen is focusing on global health organizations’ discourses, priorities, and practices to with mental health and wellbeing in the Global South. Stay tuned, the results of this research (and all the wonderful work being done by Geography majors doing senior research projects for departmental honors) will be presented at the Geography Department’s Undergraduate Research Symposium in June. Save the date: Last Friday of regular classes in spring quarter (June 3rd)!
