Geography Ph.D. student and researcher with the Center for Studies in Demography and Ecology (CSDE) Lee Fiorio's work was featured in the June 29th edition of UW Today. Fiorio's research investigates demographic trends in metropolitan areas. His findings include an overall population shift away from city centers to suburbs, despite the rejuvenation of central urban areas in recent decades. Fiorio's work reveals that newly created suburbs farther from central cities still tend to be predominately white. Fiorio will present his research on urban sprawl and neighborhood change at the Ninth International Conference on Population Geographies this week at the UW. Read the full story in UW Today here.
