Biography
The words of the ancient Roman playwright Terence, via Maya Angelou, "I'm a human being, nothing human can be alien to me," has guided my career. With over 15 years of experience in education, I have dedicated my career to fostering academic excellence, student well-being, and cross-cultural understanding. As a Professor, Administrator, and Consultant, I have worked across prestigious institutions in the United States and China, including UCLA, the University of Washington, and international schools in Beijing. My diverse background has equipped me with the skills to teach and lead in dynamic educational environments.
As an educator, I have taught a wide range of courses, including Economics, International Business, and Geography, inspiring students to think critically and engage with global issues. My administrative experience includes managing large-scale projects focused on enhancing student safety and well-being, ensuring that every student has the opportunity to achieve their full academic potential. Beyond the classroom, I serve as a consultant, helping clients expand their operations abroad and navigate cross-cultural practices.
Education has been the cornerstone of my journey—from immigrating to the U.S. from China at the age of eight to earning a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Washington, a Master’s from UCLA, and a Ph.D. from UCLA. These experiences have shaped me into a global citizen, deeply aware of my own biases and committed to creating inclusive environments. Having lived and worked in Seattle, Los Angeles, and Beijing, I bring a unique perspective to international education that prepares students to thrive in an interconnected world.
