Computer Lab Support Information

Desktop support in Geography (Smith Hall)

For workstation problems in Geography offices, seminar room (409), and computer labs (401, 415), please send the following information to geoghelp@uw.edu:

  • Workstation name (see the label on the front or right side of the PC)
  • If the user is receiving an error message, include the exact error message received and what specifically the user was trying to do when the error occurred.
  • If the PC is experiencing a hardware issue, please describe the exact behavior or problem.

All computer labs in Geography are accessed using your UW NetID. If you’ve forgotten your password, visit the UW NetID Account Recovery. All other issues should be addressed to geoghelp@uw.edu.

For server-based or remote resource problems, (e.g., database or GIS server), please contact geoghelp@uw.edu and describe the problem or error.

If the problem is affecting a class session or if a student can’t find a properly functioning workstation in the lab, please come to the main office (Smith 408) and notify Geography staff so that someone can respond immediately.
