The Washington Sea Grant Science Communications Fellowship emphasizes strengthening communication and writing skills in order to make scientific research legible to the public. Lauren will work with mentors to curate a diverse science writing portfolio and to produce artifacts for news and media outlets. The Fellowship will provide important connections to the local, regional and national marine science communities which are relevant to Lauren’s dissertation research on social and environmental justice in fisheries science and management practices in the case of the Gulf’s Red Snapper fishery.
