Submitted by Julian Barr on

Geography undergraduate Alejandro Montesinos received an Office of Minority Affairs & Diversity (OMA&D) Merit Award at their Spring Recognition Ceremony on May 25th. Alejandro was nominated by his OMA&D advisor Keoke Silvano. Keoke said this about Alejandro in his nomination: “Alejandro is a non-traditional student who had worked hard to come to UW. He is a promising Geography major who, despite hurdles and challenges that could have derailed his plans, made him stronger. Alejandro has found his personal resilience and determination to graduate. I look forward to his bright future.”

OMA&D’s Spring Ceremony recognizes freshmen, sophomores, and transfer students at UW who have achieved academic excellence. They recognize outstanding students early in their undergraduate careers as a means to encourage their continued success, promote their career goals and culminating in their UW graduation. The Merit Award is a way for OMA&D advisers to recognize individual students for academic excellence.

Congratulations Alejandro!
