During this time of uncertainty and isolation, find solace in digital opportunities to connect, share, and engage. Each week, we will share upcoming events that bring the UW, and the greater community, together online.
This week's roundup includes a colloquium talk by Dr. Melanie Malone: Seeking Justice, Eating Toxins: Overlooked Contaminants in Urban Community Gardens. Urban community gardens have enabled users to mitigate the effects of many environmental injustices such as the impact of food deserts, nutrient poor food found at convenience stores, and pesticide laden grocery items. While these benefits have promulgated across the U.S., community gardens are also well known to be located in historically contaminated locations in urban landscapes. Dr. Melanie Malone of UW Bothell explains in this talk sponsored by the Department of Geography.
